As the saying goes, “necessity is the mother of invention.” This week’s #ModernMuse Tilde Guajardo took a need she had one step further, creating the online learning platform and community Womanars. She had gone through a rough patch in her life and sought answers to help guide, educate, support and inspire her through it. Struggling to find such a resource, she developed Womanars so other women could find the guidance and support she had once needed.
As Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, her mission to connect, support and develop women personally and professionally is right up our alley! Through classes and courses that cover topics such as finances, business, relationships, mind/body/spirit and adventure/fun, the goal of Womanars “is to make it fun and easy for women to find inspirational and educational content.”
We say, #UGauGrrl! Here’s more on Tilde in her own words (and check out her awesome video below and hear from women she has helped).
“Divorce forced me to ask some tough questions like ‘Who am I? What am I passionate about? What do I want to do with the second half of my life?’ I also saw a real need as I was going online myself searching for answers to these questions and more going through a divorce.
“I noticed that it was very difficult to find quality information I could trust and there was so much to choose from what you had to try to sift through. It was frustrating! So I decided to build the solution that wasn’t available for me, and that I could make available to others.”
“I’ve always been passionate about empowering women and wanted the second half of my life to have more meaning than the first.”
How did you get to where you are and what challenges did/do you face?
“I got here through perseverance and with the help of a lot of women and men who helped me along the way. The challenges I faced were trying to build something that had never been done before and a big technology and video production learning curve. Hiring the right people has also been difficult at times and provided some valuable lessons.”
Who is your “she-ro?”
“My mom always has been my ‘she-ro.’ She worked full time, held the family together during our toughest times, pushed us to do our best and rooted us on at every event she could make after work.”
What does “UGauGrrl” (“you go girl”) mean to you?
“Supporting and encouraging another in whatever they are doing.”
What is the message that you would like to share with the world?
“The most important point in any woman’s life is when we realize how powerful we really are and then to go out and remind others how powerful they are, too.”
“Don’t let your past dictate your future.”
